Anti-cellulite diet

Proper nutrition is the key to cellulite reduction

Let's be honest here. There is no specific "miracle" anti-cellulite diet.

However a lot of experts agree that proper nutrition along, with increased physical activity is your best bet to minimize that "orange peel" appearance of your thighs and butt.

By following the tips outlined here you will not only attack cellulite, but also you will feel healthier and more energetic. So it's a win-win situation.

Before we begin, let's talk a little bit about the liver, and how it's your key organ to healthy living and healthy body. That will help you understand the importance of eating healthier.

The liver works hard to keep you from being poisoned, by filtering and detoxifying everything that enters your body. If you consume foods that are unhealthy or ridden with toxins your liver gets overloaded and doesn't function properly. The result?? The toxins are not removed readily and your whole body suffers.

So here you are.

The following lists of foods led me to less cellulite on my thighs and butt, as well as increased my well-being. That's why I call it "My Own Anti-Cellulite Diet"

Anti-cellulite Diet Foods to avoid:

Fried or deep fried foods

They contain trans fatty acids which are bad, bad, bad...For one they increase your bad cholesterol and chance of heart disease, not to mention they go to your hips and thighs. Bake, broil or boil instead

Sugar and artificial sweeteners

Sugar is truly empty calories that will add pounds to your thighs without giving anything in return...

And artificial sweeteners? "Artificial" would be the key word. Why would you want to burden your body with anything that is not natural? I use Stevia which is a 100% natural sweetener and is good for you.

Processed foods...

...that contain large amounts of salt or preservatives. We eat processed foods everyday. Bread is processed, so is your cereal, frozen and canned fruit. A lot of times salt and other preservatives are used. All the preservatives have to be on the label, so check that label and if you notice too much salt or artificial colors and flavors-don't buy it. Opt for products that are natural or buy fresh.

Carbonated beverages

Sugar city! Plus a lot of them contain caffeine to boot. Have water instead or unsweetened juice.

Alcohol

Puts a strain on your liver and is packed with empty calories. If you have to have a drink, think red wine. Red wine is actually considered good for you by some experts as it contains antioxidants from seeds and skin of grapes. One glass a day is all you need to get the benefits.

Salt and salty foods

Too much sodium in your diet will cause water retention...the result? Puffy legs. When buying your food check the labels. There is salt in just about anything now days...Opt to have salt free stuff like your butter etc.

Foods that contain "bad fats"

"Bad fats" like trans fats and saturated fats are a no-no for an anti-cellulite diet. They are bad for your heart, arteries and they go to your hips. They appear in a variety of foods like cookies, chips, baked goods and a lot of processed foods.

Again check the labels and opt for foods that contain "good for you fats": polyunsaturated and monounsaturated (such as olive oil, canola oil, soybean oil, and corn oil)

Anti-cellulite Diet Foods that are good for you:

Fresh fruit and vegetables

They are packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals. Plus they are low in fat. It is recommended to eat at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.

Highly recommended fruit are goji berries, blueberries and pomegranates .

I prefer organic produce. It does not contain traces of pesticides and herbicides.

Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids

They belong in the polyunsaturated fat category. North American diet is typically lacking these essential nutrients that aid a variety of health issues, including cardiovascular health and proper brain function. They are also beneficial for beautiful skin, hair and nails and they aid in weight loss.

The foods that contain highest amounts of Omega 3 fatty acids are: flax seeds and flax seed oil, nuts, fish and seafood. The best fish are: salmon, sardines, anchovies, herring, mackerel and trout.

I try to eat fish at least once or twice a week. You can also add flax seeds or flax seed oil to your daily diet. Consume it by itself or use it in your salads and other foods.

Ann Louise Gittelman Ph.D., C.N.S recommends one tablespoon of flax seed oil per day for maximum benefits.

Protein

Is essential in maintaining healthy hair, nails and skin. It improves muscle tone and stimulates the production of hormone glucagon that promotes the burning of fat for energy. Adding protein to each meal can speed up metabolism by as much as 25%!

I personally choose organic eggs and organic lean cuts of meats which I know are not injected with hormones or antibiotics. But of course the choice is yours.Other great sources of protein are beans, nuts, tofu and fish.

Water

Drinking enough water is essential to our health and especially to our anti-cellulite diet!

Water flushes out excess sodium and toxins out of our body. It contains 0 calories and is an appetite suppressant. It hydrates our skin, improves muscle tone and helps with weight loss.

It is recommended to drink 6-8 glasses of water per day and purified is my choice. Experts recommend having a glass of water before all meals to suppress your appetite.

Every morning when you get out of bed, have a glass of hot water with freshly squeezed lemon juice. This will assist your liver in expelling toxins.

Cranberry Juice

It contains digestive enzymes that assist the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is vital in removing waste, by its channels that run through the entire body. When it's not moving properly, the body is not able to rid of toxins effectively.

When buying cranberry juice, choose unsweetened, or sweetened with grape juice.

Detoxification Diet

What if you want to follow a diet that was specifically designed to rid your body of toxins?

I would like to recommend a wonderful book by Ann Louise Gittelman "The Living Beauty Detox Program". In this very valuable book Gittelman gives you specific detoxification diet for every season and maintenance plans for the rest of the year.

She also gives you valuable tips and information on how to reduce toxins in your every day life.

Her program goes hand in hand with an anti-cellulite diet!

Weight Loss Diet

Are you struggling with your weight? You are not alone. Once you've gained too much it's so hard to lose it. And the extra weight does not help with the appearance of cellulite. But the anti-cellulite diet alone will not do the trick.

If you're serious about getting in shape, losing weight and smoothing out your cellulite ridden thighs in the process then you must read the best selling weight loss e-book on the net "Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle".
